Wine Collections
 |
Famiglia Anelma Barolo Collective
Anselma is a traditional Barolo house that has pursued
innovation with restraint. The 1993 vintage marked
the debut of Anselma, though founders Renato and Giovanna
Anselma began acquiring vineyard land in the 1970s.
At present, Famiglia Anselma possesses one of the largest
privately owned holdings in the Barolo zone, comprising
land in the Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, and Serralunga
d’Alba communes.
This collection includes five selections from the 2000,
2000 Riserva, 2001, 2001 Riserva and 2003 vintages. |
Price: $339.57
SOLD OUT |
|
 |
Il Palazzone Brunelllo Collective
Il Palazzone—“The Big Palace”— is
a small estate (ten acres under vine) in the heart
of the Montalcino production zone. Its positioning
at an altitude of 480 meters and the characteristics
defining the composition of Montalcino’s soil
here combine to realize an environment that is particularly
propitious for the production of structured, ageworthy
wines of marked elegance. In order to craft ageworthy
Brunellos of the best quality, the estate allows an
extra year of aging beyond the DOCG standard and releases
each vintage at least six months after most other wineries.
Dick Parsons, Chairman of TimeWarner, who acquired
the estate a few years back, hired famed oenologist
Paolo Vagaggini to craft the wines. Il Palazzone’s wines achieve
a remarkable equilibrium between finesse and concentration;
bottle age realizes substantive maturation.
This collection includes five bottles from the string
of vintages 1998 – 2002. |
Price: $506.55

Rocche dei Manzoni di Valentino
Barolo
It is easy to cast Valentino as a modernist, but to
taste his early Barolos from the late seventies and
early eighties is to experience Barolo’s classic
side. Valentino firmly attributed his success to viticulture
rather than vinification: His respect for the land
always took precedence, and there is no disputing the
remarkable ageworthiness of his wines—an element
that makes these some of the greatest values in Piemonte.
Valentino passed away at the age of 67 on December
13, 2007. We are fortunate, however, that Valentino
will live on through his wines and the profound influence
he had upon Piemonte’s wine culture.
This collection
includes 6 bottles from the 1999 and 2000 vintages
from the Big di Big, 'Vigna d'la Roul’ and Vigna
Cappella di Santo Stefano’ vineyards. |
Price: $440.00
|

 |
Massolino Barolo
Founded by Giovanni Massolino in 1896, Vigna Rionda–Massolino released
its first Barolo in 1911. Today, the portfolio comprises ten bottlings, including
a trio of single-vineyard Barolos. Current production offers a rare amalgam of
multigenerational influences, led by Giuseppe Massolino, one of the founders
of the Consorzio Barolo e Barbaresco. While his son, Roberto, manages
vineyard and cellar operations, his grandson, Franco, crafts the wines, adhering
to traditional practices while incorporating modern techniques that accord with
the estate’s viticultural objectives and allow for the production of structured
Barolos that possess long-term aging potential.
This collection contains 4 bottles from the 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2003 vintages. |
Price: $381.15
