NEW 32-Page IWM Catalogue
In This Issue
A Note from Sergio
Today, just one week away from the official start of the
holiday season, I'm excited to send out a preview of
our
new catalogue. This catalogue is our most
comprehensive yet—replete with options that
I've selected with care.
There's a
wine for every feast, party, and quiet meal.
There's the perfect bottle for an enthusiast, the
consummate
case for a collector, and dozens of special gifts for
your
friends, associates, and family. But more important,
the catalogue lays out some of the tremendous
programs we've recently developed— exclusive
clubs, personalized cellar-organizing services, and
illuminating tasting events in our studio. I'm also
thrilled to give you a preview of my book, Passion
on
the
Vine: A Memoir of Food, Wine, and Family in the Heart
of Italy, which will be published in Spring 2008. It may be
premature, but it's something I'm looking forward to,
and I
hope you will, too. Please take a look—I'm
certain that
you'll like what you see.
My best,
Sergio

NEW 32-Page Catalogue
The Catalogue: It’s a quintessential
resource for the season,
highlighting a purveyor’s holiday best, classic
offerings, and new additions,
with a dressed-up version of its signature
look.
We’re not going over the same holiday
terroir that you’re
accustomed to. What we are doing is showing the
finest of IWM—our classic
wine offerings featuring significant producers,
programs that have redefined
the wine-tasting genre, and most importantly, several
new offerings that enhance
IWM’s role as a resource and authority,
including a Cellar Management
Solutions program, Cellar Builder Kit, defining list of
Super-Tuscans (including
the Tenuta dell’ Ornellaia 2004 Ornellaia),
and an elite and exclusive
Barolo and White Truffle Dinner. Profiles of each are
included, as well as
a comprehensive presentation of our entire suite of
services.
We haven’t left out holiday-appropriate
recommendations, however. Our
gift boxes, baskets, six-bottle samplers, and tasting
cases serve many special
occasions with panache, but they’ll shine
particularly well for the holidays.
We are also pleased to introduce our new Legendary
Collector’s Case,
an exclusive and unrivaled compilation of
Italy’s most prestigious wines.

Thanksgiving Revisited
How many more articles are you going to consult
about the bird and all of his
accompaniments’ vino preferences?

the feast’s best-dressed.

don’t forget about our

by bringing a wine whose
artisanal grandeur celebrates the chef’s
painstaking efforts. And, for
both the host and the guest that wish to magnify the
grape’s alluring table
position, we’ve compiled a list of large-format
bottles that impress both
inside and out….

Thanksgiving Magnums: Impressive Pours
Sparkle on: Commence the feast with the
most elegant of intros….a
100% Pinot Nero produced in Lombardia—
Italy’s sparkling wonderland….
Bruno Giacosa 2001 Spumante Brut $79.95 (1.5L)
Be a total gourmet: Foodies regard this
indigenous
Friulian as one
of the consummate food grapes. Bastianich himself
is partial to his single-varietal
bottlings of Tocai—finding them exceptionally
complementary of autumnal
fare.
Bastianich 2004 Tocai Friulano $42.90 (1.5L)
Refresh the palate: Sauvignon Blanc is a
favorite at
the feast, given
its refreshing acidity. This stellar single-vineyard
selection is mellower
than many New Zealanders, displaying a graceful
sensibility.
Peter Dipoli 2004 Sauvignon Voglar $77.00 (1.5L)
Stir the crowd: Super-Tuscans are always
welcome at
the table, given
their dramatic and engaging personalities. The
Camartina is Querciabella’s
premier wine, an unapologetic modernist that
nevertheless carries serious
structure—particularly in the classically
composed vintage of ’99.
Querciabella 1999 Camartina $147.34 (1.5L)
Impress royally: Barolo is the red of
autumn—not
to mention one that holds a stirring allure for
wine enthusiasts. This
profound example merges the Old and New
worlds….a politically correct
King.
Famiglia Anselma 1995 Barolo Adasi $156.75 (1.5L)
Reap thanks: Last but not least, here is the
chosen
one—the wine
that everyone will want an additional serving(s)
of....Best to keep their glasses
full....
Quintarelli 1999 Valpolicella Superiore $178.75 (1.5L)
Saturday Tasting Events
A Taste of Northern Rossos
November 17, 1:00–3:00 pm, $50.00
Northern Italy is well known for its remarkable white
wines, but sometimes even the most open-minded
enthusiast fails to realize that some of the finest
winemaking regions like Friuli and Valle d'Aosta also
craft worthy reds. For centuries, vintners have been
cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet
Franc to make wines with a uniquely Italian
interpretation of these Bordeaux varietals. Explore
these outstanding wines with
IWM, including Movia's robust Veliko Rosso and
Grosjean's rich and
spicy Fumin.
A Study of Barolo's Vintage Streak
November 24, 1:00–3:00 pm, $75.00
Produced in the Langhe Hills of Piemonte, Barolo is
Italy's "King of Wines." This powerful, full-bodied wine
can display elegance, depth, and bold aromatics.
Made from Nebbiolo, a thin-skinned, late-ripener
requiring high altitude, exceptional exposure, a unique
soil composition, and a cool climate, it is rarely
perfected outside of Piemonte. At the close of the
millennium (1995–2001), Mother Nature
blessed the Barolo region with some exceptional
weather, yielding
fruit that produced some more-than-perfect wines.
Taste this outstanding Vintage Streak with IWM.
Participants Receive:
• Tasting Booklet that includes IWM’s
proprietary notes
• Sampling of regional foods prepared by IWM
chefs paired with each wine tasted
