Tre Monti Sangiovese is widely known as Tuscany’s
most impressive native variety; our Castello di Ama wines
are prime examples of how this grape can rise to great heights.
Fewer wine enthusiasts are familiar with Sangiovese outside
Tuscany, where it produces wines of similar, though different,
character due to soil and climate differences. Emilia-Romagna
has a clone of Sangiovese that is uniquely its own and is
appropriately titled Sangiovese di Romagna. This clone’s
best expressions hail from the southeast portion of the
region, home to Tre Monti.
Run by the Navacchia family, this property
lies 30 miles east of Bologna in eastern Emilia-Romagna.
The winery has recently streamlined its offerings in order
to focus on its top-end wines, primarily from local varieties.
The boost in sophistication and extra attention is already
showing up in its bottles.
