Torre
Quarto Once the largest and most important wine
producer in the area, the name and cellar of Torre Quarto
provide an important historical reference for southern Italy.
After years dedicated to other business ventures, Dr. Stefano
Cirillo Farussi restored his family's winery to its original
beauty. He has shaken things up with replantings and tests
of various training systems and types of barrels. The results
of this technology have been fabulous, receiving praise
from some of the most respected critics in the business
and leading the way in this part of Italy. Together with
talented young winemaker Cristoforo Pastore, the Farussi
family has set out to conquer the world with the underdeveloped
grapes of Puglia. Leading the pack is the Uva di Troia from
Castel del Monte, bursting with deeply fruit-driven aromas
supported by powerful tannins. These are the mythical wines
of Puglia where quality is abundant at bargain level prices,
which the press loves to hype as the norm but which rarely
exist.
