Fattoria
San Giuliano The small winery of San Giuliano rests
its head on the historic hillside vineyard of the same name
but subsumes a total of 7 hectares of vineyards spread throughout
the Piemonte zones of Roero, Asti, Neive, and Barbaresco.
Owner-enologist Giulio Pastura carries on his grandfather’s
trade but has turned from bulk sales to high quality bottlings.
Giulio and his wife, Mariella Stupino, do both the vineyard
and the cellar work themselves, producing a varied line
of reliable wines from the region’s native Nebbiolo,
Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis, and Brachetto. Their
lovely, accessible Barbarescos follow the tradition of aging
in oak botti for 18 months.
