Orlando Abrigo The Abrigo family has been working the
vineyards of Piemonte for many generations, but it was Orlando
who created his own winery in the Treiso subzone of Barbaresco.
Orlando’s son Giovanni, eager to refine and enhance
the technology used in the cellar, received a degree in
enology and joined his parents’ business in 1988.
Gianni shares his passion with his wife, Virna Borgogno
of the renowned Barolo family estate Lodovico Borgogno,
and the couple divides their time between the two wineries.
Today they concentrate on the distinct character of the
family Barbaresco, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Freisa, all grown
in the Abrigo’s 10 ha of vineyards; they are also
experimenting with international varietals like Chardonnay
and Merlot, which they meticulously cultivate in newly acquired
vineyard plots. Both the established and the new wines are
faithful manifestations of the harmony between man and Nature.
