Il Poggiolo
Roberto Cosimi founded Il Poggiolo in
1971 and established production of top quality Brunello
here. Since 1984 his son Rodolfo, known familiarly as Rudy,
has divided his time between the estate and his outside
career – first as a champion motorcyclist and then
racing cars. Il Poggiolo’s wines are inalienable products
of the land: Rudy defined a careful system of selection
to convey the distinct personalities of his three vineyard
sites and therefore bottles a different Brunello for each.
Cosimi consistently presents exceptional Brunello but keeps
production very limited, so these wines are often difficult
to obtain.
