Cantina
del Trasimeno - Duca della Corgna
Duca della Corgna is the main line of
the Cantina del Trasimeno. One of just a few cooperative
cellars to produce consistently high quality bottlings,
this label is known for excellent wines at very reasonable
prices. The slopes that fringe Lake Trasimeno were once
the realm of Duke Ascanio della Corgna, a Renaissance lord,
architect, and military engineer who brought fame to the
area. Today the land offers up the native Grechetto, Sangiovese,
and Trebbiano Toscano as well as Gamay Perugino, which came
to Umbria from France two centuries ago, and more recent
arrivals like Cabernet and Shiraz. The winery was established
in 1957 and is now guided by the expert hand of Lorenzo
Landi.
