Cascina Bongiovanni di Davide Mozzone His family had already been cultivating
grapes for many generations, so Giovanni Bongiovanni’s
instinctive knowledge of the land led him to purchase his
own plot of land in the early fifties and replace the forest
there with a Nebbiolo vineyard. Though he never bottled
his own wine, he had built the foundations of a great winery
that would pass through his daughter’s hands to her
nephew Davide Mozzone, Giovanni’s grandson. Davide
studied enology in Alba and eagerly took over the family
business with an eye to modern practices and a desire to
convey the character of the land to wine lovers around the
world. With 8 hectares to call his own, Davide now produces
about 30,000 bottles a year from several traditional varietals
and the international Cabernet Sauvignon.
