Gaja Barbaresco Sorì Tildin
[gah-yah soh-(l)ree

Barbaresco Sorì Tildin is Gaja’s second single-vineyard wine. Sorì Tildin is celebrated for its unrivaled richness and intensity, achieving legendary status in the wine world.
Sorì Tildin was first created in 1970, the same year wine technician Ezio Rivella joined the estate. Sorì Tildin was named after Angelo’s grandmother, Clotilde Rey. Known to the family as Tildin, she was an incisive woman who ran the Gaja cellars on the fundamental principles of quality and diligence.
Nebbiolo for Barbaresco Sorì Tildin is harvested from the Roncagliette, the vineyard site owned by the Gaja family since 1967 in the commune of Barbaresco. The vineyard produces the fruit for both Sorì Tildin and Gaja’s third cru—Costa Russi—both of which are renowned for vines rich with concentrated fruit.
The Sorì Tildin plot faces southwest at an altitude of 270 meters with a fermentation that typically lasts for 15-20 days. The wines are then placed in barrique for malolactic fermentation and remain there for a year before aging another 12 months in large casks. Of Gaja’s three single-vineyard Barbaresco wines, Sorì Tildin displays the roundest tasting profile, with a rich body, subtle texture, and fine, ripe tannins. Like all of Gaja’s wines, Sorì Tilden offers extraordinary aging potential.
From the 1996 vintage on, Sorì Tildin has been classified as Langhe DOC, and not listed as Barbaresco DOCG due to the addition of Barbera.
