In the heart of the Chianti district lies the Fontodi estate, purchased by the Manetti family in 1968. Giovanni Manetti, son of the original visionaries, oversees production today, with vaunted enologist Franco Bernabei crafting the wines. Their state-of-the-art winery is one of the most impressive in all of Italy. The Fontodi vineyards average 400 meters above sea level and spread over 67 hectares situated in a valley named Conca d'Oro (Golden Basin) on the southern slopes of the town of Panzano. The vineyards' southern exposure and positioning in a natural amphitheatre provide ideal light and heat conditions for maturing grapes, contributing great character and structure to the wines. Additionally, marl soil provides thorough draining and allows roots to extend deep down, encouraging the absorption of various minerals.
