Founded in the late
1800s by Piero Coppo, this winery was destined for
greatness. Piero's son, Luigi, expanded the estate
to include classic still and sparkling wines. Now
it is Piero's four grandsons that run this winery,
using the approach of integrating new innovations
with traditional viticulture. This is not a family
that sits idle while other Italian wineries continue
to prosper, as they are the definition of ambition.
This new generation of winegrowers has a fresh and
modern approach of viewing agriculture. They produce
traditional Piedmontese wines, giving the dedication
and respect that has been around since the beginning,
while also adding their own unique style to create
wine of excellence
The Petrolo estate
lies in one of the original zones sanctioned for the
production of Chianti by the Grand Duke of Toscana
in 1716. In the 1980s, the Bazzocchi family, owners
since the ‘40s, began producing one of Italy’s
most coveted “cult” wines, the much-lauded
Galatrona. Torrione, Galatrona's
little sibling, is a barrique-aged 100% Sangiovese.
Plump, with dark red fruit, tobacco leaf, and rain-soaked
earth. Enticingly soft, seamless, and suave.
